Re: How did 2 new AEM smart coils blew up

The S80 and amplified coils are not the best combo in my humble opinion. Firstly, on your coils its stated TTL trigger, means they need a 5V signal, and if I'm not mistaken, the S80 output's a 12V signal(amplified coils checked), through a pull-up resistor on the coil drivers. I had an S80pro myself...

Re: Injector Size v Fuel Map ms

1/(511/349) = 0.683.

Multiply your map figures by 0.683 and you should be ok(theoretically).

Don't forget about the dead times and at low duty cycles the numbers might be off...

Re: can bad battry cause map to change on next stratup?????

Still, that doesn't explain your problem Andreas, looks like high EMI interference from the coils, maybe a bad coil pack, or still bad ground to the ECU. Do you have long wires to the coil pack?

Re: can bad battry cause map to change on next stratup?????

As a side note, miss fires are mainly calculated from crankshaft acceleration(with a high resolution crank sensor wheel, like 60-2, running sequential), the ecu knows when it fires which cylinder, if the crankshaft acceleration is not what's expected(to slow), a miss fire error is flagged for that c...

Re: can bad battry cause map to change on next stratup?????

The 4 pin amplified coils I've seen(VW) have a separated ground coming from the secondary coil(HT), which in general, is connected to the head. So you have +12V, amplifier & primary ground, signal and secondary ground.

Re: S100 coil driver

Ohh thats bad!!! Thanks.for the info. One other thing, the main ignition map can it be changed to map instead of tps as I couldn't figure it out? Sure you can, you can use map as load, but it will be for both fuel and ignition timing maps, only I don't remember exactly where you can find it, should...

Re: S100 coil driver

It won't delay engine start-up, as the fuel pump is primed when the DTA is switched on(anyway, if no sync is found, the fuel pump stops running), but it will prevent the coils sparking when DTA is switched on. I had one leaking injector once, before I made the change, and when I switched on the DTA,...

Re: S100 coil driver

Keith, one suggestion when using amplified coils; As others(some) and myself included, have discovered when using amplified coils(amplified coils option ticked), is that when you power on(switch) the ECU without starting the engine, all coils will fire once. I won’t go in detail the reason for this(...

Re: MEAS oil & fuel pressure sensor driving me nuts

A little late, but for what it is worth; It would have worked if you put the resistor(at least a 1% precision 250 ohm resistor) between ground and the sensor ground wire, the signal would be between the resistor and the sensor ground wire. Although it should work, it's not the purpose of this sensor...

Re: s80 no spark pulse at COP

The problem with Hall sensors is that the 'axial' positon is important, you can not 'twist' them as you could with a reluctor, also the sensor center offset is low(+/- 0.5mm).
