Re: decipering MAP log

It turned out that the "professional installer" did it wrong and it was their installation that was causing the issue. I ended up getting rid of the petrol side of it and ran it LPG only, used an impco 425 mixer fixed to a holly 4 barrel throttle plate added a TPS & connected the MAP s...

e48 and HEI coil/dizzy

As a interim between getting the S80 onto my boat, I found my old E48 in a box over the weekend, which got me thinking... coil and dizzy.jpg The engine uses an ECU controlled GM/Mercruiser HEI coil and dizzy arrangement, there are loads of wires coming in and out, with quite a few communicating to t...

Re: decipering MAP log

That was my thinking, getting a MSD cam trigger that replaces the dizzy so the S80 controls everything then piggy back using a standard LPG ecu thing. Boats tend to run without a filter, the thing you can see is a flame arrester so its basically a metal gauze "filter" The airflow to the en...

Re: decipering MAP log

The current MEFI2 ecu has a soft cut at 5600 and hard at 5800rpm and uses knock detection (albeit primitive) to retard the ignition as required (hence the different top RPM depending on the type of petrol I presume) the max RPM is WOT that I've had / can do / could do under load. This is the video, ...

Re: decipering MAP log

Thanks, a "wet" exhaust is a marine exhaust manifold. The headers are wrapped in a water jacket to reduce engine bay temps and reduce fire risk on a boat. The engine coolant is pulled in from the lake using a separate water pump, shoved into the engine coolant system like normal with a the...

decipering MAP log

Hi, it's been a while - it's good to see the same people still on here after all these years! I've got a 6L GM based N/A V8 in a boat, which I'm having trouble with now it's had a propane conversion done. which is making me wonder whether to put my S80 onto it and run sequential and duel fuel - (ide...

Re: Gdash connection to DTA S80

Bit late to the party but back in 2009 Allan emailed me saying that the GDash would work with my S80 with the latest GDash firmware.

Never got around to trying it but he did say it could be done

Re: new user on e48

Maybe if you do a screengrab of various settings and post them up then others could do a sanity check on the figures? Also, if your wideband thats coming has another output that is supported by the E48 then you could wire that in while youre at it (even if you don't use it for closed loop you can da...

Re: new user on e48

You can get COP to work with the e48 wired up in a wasted spark configuration, I did for a while but then had a couple fail so went to the zetec coil pack. Depending if the loom is the original to the car it may have the cam sensor connected to the loom but not back to the ECU. The last version of t...

Re: E48 / S80 on boat engine, a few queries before I start

It's usually about 25-40L per hour when wakeboarding or slalom skiing so adds up pretty quick. (wakeboarding with ballast = Near full throttle, 4k+rpm and just about getting to 20mph, slalom = 3.5k ish 1/2 throttle and 36mph) With the lack of O2 sensor I guess it's going to be head down, bum up with...
