Excellent - if you guys have photos of the electric power steering I would be real interested in seeing how that all works.

Essentially its very similar to the new M1 except mine's naturally aspirated, I expect around 300bhp at the flywheel with my limited mods. Limitation might be traction as I will only have the 8" wide rims and 225 width tyres compared to the M1 with its 10.5" rears! That's down to the limited availability of suitable rally tyres, I'm stuck with the ex WRC tyres in 18".

the rear diff is very clever, it has a fully variable plate LSD controlled internally by hydraulic pressure which is developed when there is a differential in shaft speeds. It can lock up to 100% according to the BMW blurb!

Also I have the option of full traction control with the DTAS80 to play with!

I made a hybrid adApter section between the vx lower uj and the BMW rack uk out of some 25mm CDs tube welded at both ends.

Been busy with wiring up the whole car from scratch (no Canbus!), here's the X-dash fitted:

Cool project. But I just cant grow to like those dash displays at all.

At least the rpm bit anyway. I need a nice analogue swing gauge.

It's more like a small starter motor! Fused at 50Amps, it's virtually silent in operation too.

do you have any links to info on the electric power steering ?
I need to fix my power steering on my MK2 Golf but this might just be a option seeing already cut the original steering column to fit a Mk3 column.

nice job so far ;)

You need a Corsa B or C column complete with it's own ecu, make sure you get the connectors too with about 6" of wire attached.

Then you also need one of the little controllers below, this gives the steering ecu some engine and speed pulses.
