Starting from an old e36 325i coupe with 250K on the counter I built a rallycross car. Drove it some years and gradually improved the performance/robustness by changing the rear diff ratio, LSD, radiator to the trunk etc...
Video of this process: https://youtu.be/OR7UIIBe-z8
Finishing top 8 in the promotional class and first RWD after all 4WD cars I was quite happy with the result.
This winter I took the car apart, painted the interior, installed a DTA S80 together with the SX Dash and rewired the car. Also upgraded the suspension to AST.
I combined the videos of the incar Gopros together with the logs from the GPS and DTA with Dashware: https://youtu.be/s3edOgzktWA?list=PL51CA60C0C09B1E99
I'm quite amazed what you can achieve with a 250000km old M50B25 engine. I guess that's why it's called "BMW POWER"
Still some work to do on the mapping but that is the FUN part and the reason I decided to switch to a programmable MCU.
If anyone is interested I can do a small writeup on the sensor connections to the DTA (changed e.g. to a MAP sensor iso stock MAF)
