Ok lets have another go i lost the message first time round. Firstly thanks for the replys so quickly. I am using an S60 i think the issue i have is because the standard trigger wheel has technically 24 teeth but non missing only two full height uncut if that makes any sense, i have had the engine running on cylinder 1 and 2 with a spark and injection on 3/4 but clearly at the wrong time i cant seem to upload a display of the cranking scan but tells me to use flywheel mode 0 and approx position 287 or 107. i am using one coil per cylinder but..
its almost like it wants to run wasted spark ie one coil per pair of cylinders which my other bikes do on the S40.

If1 coil per cylinder is turned off (most likely), you'll need to make sure twin spark is ticked in General Engine Settings to get all 4 coils to fire.

Looks like a fairly normal missing tooth trigger wheel, with maybe 2-3 missing.
Would be easier to tell with a frontal view.

Post a crankshaft oscilloscope from the software.
I'm pretty sure that's a 24 - 2.
My only concern will be where the gap is relative to TDC, but that will show in the scope.

I wondering if the DTA doesn't even notice the little 'pips' and just sees one long tooth? Step down appears less than half tooth width - issues?

Shouldn't be an issue, it's the same as the Subaru 36-2-2-2.
Also, the engines been running, so it can synchronise.

Ok guys thanks again for your input i have sussed it now i had to machine away then stock raised area that would have been the missing 2 teeth so now there are two physically missing teeth after doing that i hit the starter and it instantly ran on all 4 pots.

Well the OP experience disproves that theory doesn't it.In terms of the trace passing zero on the falling edge..doesnt matter if there is a gap or solid space. Same end result.

Whether its just bike installations, but they can be very finicky regarding tooth to sensor gap, gap depths and tooth width measurements and possibly the rate of change in rpm is also a factor.
Glad it sorted with a relatively simple solution.
