S80 running hot?

Post by Gadgetman »

Honda F20C (from S2000) with Rotrex charger. The S80 is running the stock Honda COP units, and DW 800 cc injectors.

While getting to grips with a few niggles on the car during mapping on the dyno, we've noticed that the S80 seems to get exceptionally hot! Obviously, mapping session runs are what they are; a mix of hard runs, coast down, idling etc while maps are updated.

At times the case of the S80 is almost too hot to touch! (We spotted it with a temp gun five minutes or so after engine off, and it was still showing above 60 degrees C.

I've certainly had ecu's get warm before, toasty even, but as this is a new install and my first time with the S80, I've no idea if it's normal behaviour or not?

That is normal on an S80 with amplified coils. Nothing to worry about.
