good morning from greece ,if you can help me with an e48 ,i will try to fit it to an v6 turbo gtv ,this ecu can drive v6 engines?can i put to this ecu map from s80 ,have anyone the wiring for v6??
thank you from advange

Re: e 48
You only have 2 coil drivers. The only way you can run a V6 on an E48 is with a distributor and a single coil.
Re: e 48
Eh? - what about 3No dual ended coils running wasted spark so a S60 would work?iceman_n wrote:you need s60 ecu to do it properly with single coil and spark leads or s80 ecu if you like to do it with coil on spark, the last one is more expensive...because you need six single coils...
Re: e 48
i think dual coils like msd ones have 3 pins...one for 12v and the other two for signal, for each cylinder so you need 3 dual coils...so you need 6 outputs for signal and s60 has only...
but i am not sure about msd pins...if they have only two outputs on coil one for 12v and the other for signal to fire 2&3 cylinders (for example) in pairs then it works as only need 3 signal outputs from s60 as you said...
still expensive because of the 3 pairs of dual coils but more powerfull ofcourse...

You can get some 1 piece, dual output coils that fire 2 sparks each time, so would require only 1ecu trigger but as above would be wasted spark...and not coil per cylinder
Likewise you could just get a 6 tower coil and use it...but that wouldnt be coil per cylinder either.
Easiest and neatest is just coil per cylinder with internal amps...if you cannot find such a coil, then use a regular inductive coil per cylinder and install suitable amplifiers to allow the engine to run from 3 outputs.

Bike coils are dual ended and are 12v and signal - so you'll have 12v shared 3 ways and 3 ign outputs - could be done for about £75
Or use one of these..... https://www.autosportlabs.com/product/f ... eneration/ 4 pins - easy!

Re: e 48
But regardless of all of the above, the E48 will still need a dizzy to run a V6.

Absolutely correct! all the injectors can be wired in parallel as long as high resistance ones but a distributor is required for the sparks.stevieturbo wrote:But regardless of all of the above, the E48 will still need a dizzy to run a V6.
