Just turn the engine to TDC no 1, then turn it back about 60 degrees. Line up the gap with the sensor, and fine tune when running.Daniboy123 wrote:Ok thanks. I guess I can use the teeth on the crank trigger as a guide as to how many degrees I've turned the engine. Only thing I'm not sure about is what markings are on the flywheel with it being a replacement to help me fine tune it with a strobe. I'd best have a look when I get home from work in a week or so. I see there is a handy crankshaft oscilloscope which should help me figure out if I've wired it up correctly.

Re: Learning to map
Great thanks I'll do that. Any other advice with regards to good techniques when wiring it up and getting it up and running are very welcome. This is my first engine build along with my first attempt at wiring.
I've replaced all main power feeds and earth's along with the fusebox and will be following the s80 pro wiring diagram. I've crimped and soldered all my connections. As I say any pointers or tips greatly appreciated thanks. I shall keep you upto date on my progress. For anyone who has an interest in supercharged mk1 golf's here is my wiring thread on club gti;

Very long winded but some great information in there for anyone doing something similar.
Here is the actual car build again for anyone interested;

It's ground to a halt just now but I'll be cracking on with it again in the next few weeks, thanks for looking.
