Just in case this hasnt been covered before.......
I installed a 10mm Ultrabright white LED as a shiftlight for a customer.
The LED came from Ebay and has a resistor already in the wires to set the current so as suitable on 12V. I wired it in but found that when its not lit it still glows slightly.
There must be enough leakage in the shiftlight driver device to enable enough current to flow through the LED to make it glow.
I solved this by putting a 100 ohm resistor in parallel with the LED/resistor so the DTA driver device leakage is masked, Perfect! its very bright when lit up!

I've had that exact issue before. The trouble with LEDs being so easy to trigger

Which shift light was it? Ive looked in the past but never decided on which one to buy.

I use a relay now as when they fail they pull a high current. or just fuse it.
