No, I had problems when there was no way to ground the case.gnutz2 wrote:So you had problems when grounding the case? What kind of problems?stevieturbo wrote:I think that's what it shows anyway ?
Most cars will work perfectly fine with no case ground, I think mine was the first ( or certainly one of the first ) to exhibit problems with the S-Series first came out !
The problems in my case were small, but very annoying. For most part car drove fine, and no apparent issues under load.
However when pulling away from a stop, it had a really easy tendency to stall. And when cruising at say 70mph every now and then the engine would basically hiccup. No rhyme nor reason as to the circumstances or times it would happen, just seemed random, but most noticeable at those times.
And it would put you in mind that the damn thing was about to breakdown.
So I would say it had somehow affected the crank trigger or something, but that was nearly 10 years ago, so dont recall all the details, other than those symptoms.
As I had changed from a P8Pro..I had made a patch harness so it was very easy for me to swap back. With it re-fitted there was no problem.
Allan eventually came to the conclusion of earthing the case ( via the comms connector plug nut ) and amazingly that fixed it.
He had deliberately made the case totally isolated from all wiring...I think he mentioned in case some dummies managed to short the case out in the car. I guess someone must have done it at some time with other ecus lol.
