S40 with Fuel Pressure Input and Gear Position

Post by tryolz »

Hi All,
I will wire an S40 next week for a new project and I would like to know if I Connect Gear Position sensor on Analogue input 3 and
Fuel Pressure on Analogue Input 2.
Will I need to Calibrate the fuel pressure in the
Engine Configuration -> Sensor Scaling Menu
or in the
Other Map Settings -> Analogue 2 Menu.

Thanks for your Help

Anything connected to an Ana2 input will need configured within that menu screen and whilst you may give it the name Fuel Pressure, it isnt the same as using the Fuel Pressure input in that sense.

Thanks stevie.
so i was right there is no way to have the true fuel pressure input and gear position input on an s40.
I suppose that wiring the gear position on ana3 is the best as i will use it to have a gear dependant ignition cut for upshift and the fuel pressure is only for diagnostics and warning purpose.

or would it be better to have gear sensor on ana2 and fuel pressure on ana3 ?

Gear sensor must be on analogue 3.
Fuel pressure isn't used for any compensations, so put that on analogue 2, scale it correctly, and you'll be fine.

gear position sensor doesnt activate a cut ? It just tells which gear you are in.

Or did you mean something different ?

Gear position can be used to both start and stop the shift cut (you can also use switch to start cut, pot to end ). This is the only way closed loop shift cut works without an external controller (like geartronics etc), ).

No it is only to have a gear dependant cut time !!!

If you have the gear pot installed you should use the closed loop facility, I can think of no reason why you would prefer the fixed time cut (even with gear dependant times).

You are right rob there is no logic behind it but in france we are used to set fixed cut time.
Perhaps i will try it !!!!
