I haven't hooked up the laptop to the ECU for a few weeks but wanted to enable the Data Stream for DTA Droid.
Generic USB-9pin cable and Maplins 15-9pin adapter - which has previously worked fine.
Anyhow, maybe due to updates the Com ports were all messed up so I reinstalled the Prolific drivers and reset the Com port to 5 (as before).
Connected cable to ECU, turned to ignition on and get the message ECU Not Responding. However, the Real Time Info screen shows correctly - and continues to do so when the engine starts.
Some cable related comms issue? Or worse?
Grateful for any advice.
(I have a new DTA cable on the way regardless)

Check the USB driver version number, it's probably been helpfully updated by Windows.
If there are multiple versions installed, Windows will take the latest version, which seems to be a broken version at the moment.
