IMPORTANT Amplified coils problem

I discovered a big problem using amplified coils
Problem occurs when Ecu tries to communicate with PC .
If a loose contact occurs or have a very long wire and communication take several seconds you will burn coils
I burned 11 Nissan skyline coils and now 4 Honda K20 before I discovered what's going on and costs me 700 Euro for 2 Skylines and another 200 euros for Honda to replace .
Now I'm afraid connecting PC with these cars
Desperate need help

Thanks

Comms has nothing to do with the outputs of the coils.

I have them on my car, and have never had this problem.

Is this on one car, or multiple cars?

2 skylines and now Toyota starlet 4efte with K20 coils
on Skylines I had a 2mt USB extension which took about 30 seconds to communicate with ECU in the mean time coils over heat and burn .I thrown away extension and connect directly and did not overheat coils
Now I was going to connect to
Starlet and had a loose contact between cable and usb convertor and burn all 4 coils in a second
I new about the problem but I thought I solved without using extension but eventually I was wrong
I also used amplified coils on other cars such as Subaru Impreza, VW 1.8t 20v and even M&W Cdi but as said as long you have normal communication there is no problem

I ran the LS coils on my car for several years on the S80 which have internal amplifiers.

I'd often sit with the ecu powered up ( ie ignition on ) pulling datalogs, doing other stuff etc but never had any problems with the coils.

This was always with laptop inside the car, USB adaptor lead maybe 1.5m or so ? Not really sure. And that would also be with my DIY knob box between the USB and ecu which would add another 2m or so of cable.

Once your communicated there is no problem,
Problem is only when trying to connect and do not connect because of something.
I had a delay of about 20 to 30 sec to connect ecu with PC in that time coils begin to overheat. But if engine is running and try to connect noyj=hing happens. only when engine off with ignition on.
Even I used amplified coils before but never had connection problem so I do not know if it could happen on them too .

In the absence of a solution to the comms problem...maybe wire the coils so they are only live when the fuel pump is running ? So when key on normally, they will not be powered ?

Although curious as to the cause of the comms issue. Is it due to the USB extension lead ? Could the lead be made of better quality, better cable/connectors ?

Could you create the extension on the RS232/serial side and retain a shorter USB adaptor ?

The last issue ,the Starlet new cable supplied with ecu and mine usb convertor .
Today change 4 new coils and everything normal again.
This time I did not trust and started engine before connecting PC.
But still will remain a problem as not alway possible start before or forget and have an other bad connection.

I've burnt 4 out on a millington with k20 oils and never found out why. Interesting

And replaced with same and all ok ?

Recently a friend fitted some Honda coils to his car and it went to dyno. He bought replacement NGK coils I believe...but on the dyno over around 600hp it would misfire. They tried a few changes all to no avail...then swapped the coils with some second hand, but genuine Honda coils. Problem fixed and went on to make nearly 700hp.
