need help finding a type of switch

Post by Nem »

Looking for a switch that will make and break contact with a single throw.

Example.......if I press the switch, no matter how long I keep it pressed it only makes and breaks the contact for a set time.

Thanks for any help

You've lost me. I think you are asking for a switch with a timer in it?

Im sure there are switches available that make a momentary contact as you push, but only momentary even if you hold the button down.

Cant recall the name of them though

That's exactly what I need.

Reason for needing this switch is for my shift cut signal.

My s60 is on a prostreet motorcycle and we use our horn button to activate the shift cut and air shifter.

Problem is even setting the shift cut to "kill time only" if you hold the shift button slightly too long it kills the motor longer than what's set.

So a button like described will keep shift kill more consistant and remove human error of holding the button too long.

Think what you might be looking for is sometimes called
a Snap-Acting Momentary Push switch. Might help with searches.

This place seems to have a good range, including the snap acting ones mentioned above.

I think you need to revisit how the gear change is operated. You need to include a load sensor in the gear change actuator push/pull rod and let that signal the ecu for a time cut only and use the horn push to operate the air system only.
