Ideal sensor positions

Post by snax »

Im working on a ford 351w v8 and I am fitting custom cam and crank sensors. Is there an ideal position for the sensors. Im thinking about putting the crank sensor at 90 degs on the 60-2 wheel. The cam sensor will be a single tooth and Im thinking I am going to mount that sensor where ever is convenient unless a certain range will work better.

Read the instructions ?

With the S-series you can mount it anywhere as far as I know.

But putting it at a known sensible position is best. the trailing edge of the missing tooth at 90deg would be fine. Ive mine around 67deg. Just because it ended up there..

Cam tooth can go anywhere, but again it makes sense to place it somewhere that makes sense. But apparently they dont like having the two TDC/reference/whatever events happening at the same time.

ie dont have the cam tooth occuring at the same time as the TDC reference
