S60 and TPS problem

Post by kire »

Hi,

I have a S60 with a TPS problem. The sensor is a Penny & Giles.

Picture of the logging:

I've tried two sensors so far and still the same problem. The throttle stop/start is correct as far as i can see.

Could it still be the sensor or something else?

Regards
Erik

looking at the log it looks like the engine has gone from 5000rpm to 5500 rpm without touching the throttle or is the logging backwards

I did a short video of it on the Dyno today. When hitting the pedal fast and to 100% throttle it "pumps" the engine like on the video. On the PC you till see that the colorize of where it is in the map disappear.

I do have somekind of same problem if i try to hold 10% TPS as well.

Any idee of what this could be?

Perhaps a bad wiring loom / connection to the tps.
Try the real time chart to view things like this

Solved the problem today. After TPS change, i did not adjust the value on fully closed throttle. It was 62 on idle. Adjustet to approx 100 on fully closed. Then did the throttle learn. Now the throttle is 3% on idle and not 0 it was before.

Thanks!

A good reason to have your idle at 0% makes it simple to change a faulty tps, how you have it now is a pain to set up, particularly in the field.

You must have somehow had it set at -20% so it just shows as 0% not sure how that would make it jump around however unless the -20 point is within the 'tps failed zone' and the ecu was substituting the tps fail value located in general engine settings.

If so you will have seen a building count in the diagnostics screen showing throttle pot failed. All the tools are there to help, just need to look at them :)
