Re: False Crank Sensor Triggering
At least you've got an idea of where to look. Unless anyone else has a better idea, I'd suggest you're at the point you need to get an electrician to look at it.

Re: False Crank Sensor Triggering
Is the crank sensor now the ONLY wire that connects to the ECU sensor earth pin? Or are there still wires joining in further down for the other sensors?

Re: False Crank Sensor Triggering
Hi Phil,
Yes the crank sensor is the only one that is plugged in during testing. The loom is stock DTA and pin 29 is also wired to Lambda, TPS, MAP, Air and Water temp as per the S40 Pro wiring diagram.
Cheers
Al

Re: False Crank Sensor Triggering
Try a new flasher relay or switch ?
Presumably the indicators dont affect things ?

No, our looms have lambda wired to main earth, pin 13 or 14.alistai_Westy wrote: pin 29 is also wired to Lambda
Have you run a sensor to that earth maybe?

Re: False Crank Sensor Triggering
Power for lambda heater would be wired to earth ?
On a 4 wire NB sensor if that's what he is using, surely the signal ground would go to signal ground, with 0-1v being the +ve portion.

Re: False Crank Sensor Triggering
I checked, and all our looms have lambda earthed to pin 13 or 14. I don't know what the reason is, but I'll find out.

Re: False Crank Sensor Triggering
Hi Guys,
My mistake the Wideband is wired to power ground 13/14. It is a 3 wire Innovate. It is unplugged and problem is still evident. So I'm sure all sensor earths are correctly routed to 28/29.
All switches that impose an electrical load cause injector firing, that is hazards, indicators, side lights, high beam etc.
Is it possible there is a fault with this ECU?
Cheers

Re: False Crank Sensor Triggering
That really is the weirdest problem I've ever heard of for such a relatively simple system.
Can you always drive in the daytime and avoid using lights ? lol
The S40 has a plastic shell, ie no way to earth or shield it ?

Re: False Crank Sensor Triggering
could it be the load is pulling the battery voltage down so low that the ecu resets? more thinking out loud!
