for my 2.2 aircooled vw engine i use a old type vdo sensor. 1 output for control light in dash other for s60 input.
Now i want to wire the vdo gauge. what is the best solution? 2nd sensor only for the gauge or wiring from the first sensor, but how? now is it wired with a resistor and 5v, give this a good measuring on the gauge?
oil pressure sensor to s60 and gauge

That sensor won't work with the ECU, you will need a separate sensor for the ECU.
I just used a T-Piece and fitted a second sensor.

This sensor work with s60. There are more aircooled VW engines with This sensor and dta ecu.

Why wont it work ?
I would say 1 sensor like that cannot feed 2 gauges ( or gauge and ecu ) etc.
But that style of sensor wired as shown with a pullup should work ?

The two poles are not signal and ground.stevieturbo wrote:Why wont it work ?

One is a signal, and one is the switch going to the dashboard as a low pressure warning. I had one on my Golf, and was told I needed to replace it.
If they are working on other installs, than the signal will be connected to the ECU, and the ground would be on the chassis, not the signal ground.
I don't recommend it, as you're grounding this sensor on power ground, not signal ground.vw_speedsterke wrote:This sensor work with s60. There are more aircooled VW engines with This sensor and dta ecu.
In the picture you have posted, just ignore the ground wire, that's what other people must be doing.

So it's a switch, not a pressure sensor ?
Easiest option for DTA or any ecu ( and probably most reliable anyway ) is a 3 wire sensor...unfortunately they tend to be a lot more expensive.

No, it's both. One output is pressure, one is a switch. There is no signal ground output.stevieturbo wrote:So it's a switch, not a pressure sensor ?

I tried a couple from an ebay seller Zadatech. Looked same, similar price etc.gnutz2 wrote:I use these http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Stainless-Steel ... nav=SEARCH
I used them for pre-turbine pressure via a long brake hose. Both sensors failed in about 2 days.
First was replaced under warranty, never even bothered the second time.
I stuck a cheap Chinese 3bar map sensor in it's place and it's been fine for over a year
For my own oil pressure I used one that VEMS sell, although they now sell a Honeywell sensor, my oil pressure from them was a brass bodied sensor, same shape, wiring plug etc as the Honeywell though.
I use one of the Honeywell for cooling system pressure and it's been fine for over a year too.

Clearly a substantial price difference though !
Cheap ones from ebay are definitely worth a try
Re: oil pressure sensor to s60 and gauge
Hmm, interesting that yours failed, I've had mine looking at oil pressure for over a year now working great. I do have it mounted remotely on rubber bobbins though, I hate to see pressure transducers threaded directly into an engine.
