Well assuming it is the same as the ST170 map supplied on the DTA software....big assumption then it appears to be a normal inductive coil.

If the tacho wire from DTA does not work, just use one of the coil trigger wires from the ecu and adjust the tacho til it reads correctly.

Hi it turned out to be a fault with the tacho itself, the orange signal wire had broken near where it passes into the back of the tacho body. The insulation was intact and showing no signs of anything been wrong but the wire inside had broken.I suppose the lesson is buy new not used. Anyway all working now so thanks again for all the advice.
