Temp Sensor Calibration

Post by gnutz2 »

Can anyone tell me how to calibrate the sensors with only the resistance values from a multimeter at various temps.

Normally I'd do it on the car and look at the sensor voltage but it's not possible right now.

Many thanks Baz

mV = 5000 ( R /(R + 1000))
where R is your resistance.

If you're really picky, you can replace the 5000 with the actual mV shown in the Diagnostic Display. However, as most sensors are only accurate to either 5 or 10%, it's not going to make any noticeable difference.

I've another question.

Can someone transpose the equation above to work out R if i already know the mV.

Thanks.

If my algebra is correct, it's
R = (1000 * mV) / (5000 - mV)

Curious to know why, though?

I'm making a 12 position calibration switch, I know what voltages I want the ecu to see so need to select the correct value resistors.

Cheers Baz.
