TPS value flickers zero - 1%?

Post by vwjim »

I've tried recalibrating the TPS, but noticed occasionally the data screen shows the TPS flickers from zero to 1% when the engine is at idle.

There is good strong return springs on the Jenvey's.
The EFI hardware is approx 4 years old.

Any ideas what to try test or adjust?

Thanks

If they are anything like mine where the springs are between the centre two bodies and the TPS situated at one end or the other on the outside, all the tolerances stack up enough that a bit of vibration or strong vacuum signal allows a little 'flutter' - I wouldn't worry overly!

Thanks for the reply.

It's not something I've ever noticed before, and after changing the linkage the "engine braking" seemed to be less, so did some testing.

Found the flicker, so increased the spring tension today, but not road tested it yet to see if there was any change to how it drives.
