Wait, you're going to use 12V...? or like, 14V-ish whwen running... I'd buy a new (different) sensor before doing that, personally.

Re: MEAS oil & fuel pressure sensor driving me nuts
Did a Quick and Dirty yesterday, no go.
Managed to get a 5V signal and gauge that showed 7 bar pressure. But only static.
Yes, I will stop fooling around now.
Order coming. 50 UK Pounds plus shipping must be better than having a half good solution.

Sometimes (usually) it's cheaper than your time spent on it. A shame though, I hate wasting parts too.Frallan wrote:50 UK Pounds plus shipping must be better than having a half good solution.

Re: MEAS oil & fuel pressure sensor driving me nuts
A little late, but for what it is worth;
It would have worked if you put the resistor(at least a 1% precision 250 ohm resistor) between ground and the sensor ground wire, the signal would be between the resistor and the sensor ground wire.
Although it should work, it's not the purpose of this sensor, they are made to work with a stabilized power supply, and made for use when longer wires(distance) are needed, because the 'output signal' is current the length of the wires do not play a role. Although, the 'burden' resistor precision will play a big role on the output signal and heat will change its characteristics(resistance).

Re: MEAS oil & fuel pressure sensor driving me nuts
Thanks Marco!
I ended up ordering two new sensors that should arrive soon.
It also seems that I burnt one of them in my trial and error....
They are sensistive, I found out.
Appreciate your input though!

mefmotorsport wrote:But surely the load resistor needs to go in SERIES with the positive supply then take the signal from the junction of the sensor wire and the load resistor?troy wrote:If the sensor is a 4-20mA you'll need a load resistor and then take the signal from across the load resistor. a 250 ohm resistor will give you 5v at 20mA (full scale).
It should work but its ugly and a bit of mucking around.
Yes in series, but in the negative side. and take the the signal wire from between the resistor and sensor.
Its not really the best solution for this application, but should work.

Solved! Re: MEAS oil & fuel pressure sensor driving me nuts
OK,
I just received my 150 psi transducers.
Wiring the three red, green and black, and done! I have perfect signal that I bench tested both for fuel press and oil press.
All system OK.
Start up very soon.
