S100 coil driver
Hi all, just bought an s100 for my s2000 ap engine and was trying to figure out if the dta s100 can drive the oem coils directly of the s2000. The coil are of the 3wire type, power, ground and signal. Any help please? Thanks
Re: S100 coil driver
yes s100 can drive them directly...probably the s2000 coils are amplified coils so you need to enable the "external coil amps" on general engine settings
if your coils are not amplified you dont need to enable this feature...so be sure if your coils are amplified or not first....

Re: S100 coil driver
Thanks for your prompt reply. Is there a way to physically check if they are amplified or not?

Re: S100 coil driver
They're amplified, I'm using the later 09+ coils but I think wiring/driving wise they're exactly the same anyway.
Beware if you're wiring it in using the manual, because the instructions for the S2000 both wiring and trigger settings are wrong for the later cars

Re: S100 coil driver
Thanks for the info. Infact I think the base map from dta is for an earlier model, mine is an 06 ap2.

Re: S100 coil driver
Yes, the base map must be one of the 05 or earlier I think. My engine has the K20 timing wheel/sensor setup although the crank sensor is wired slightly differently numbers wise on the pins IIRC.

Re: S100 coil driver
Hi again, just to make sure I'm correct. The s100 can't drive a wideband lambda sensor directly, an external controller has to be used correct? Thanks

Re: S100 coil driver
correct, external controller required. Just follow the drawing. I use the fuel pump circuit to turn the controller on and off.
