Hi everyone.
I'm wondering if any of you have experience of air cooled engines and cyl head temp thermistors ?
I need to fit a thermistor to enable my cold running enrichment, however.
I dont want an under plug VW type one and I'm not hugely keen on using oil temp but I will have to if I cant do it any other way.
Any ideas on what resistance I would need for an S40 or any other ideas would be greatly received.
Cheers.
Skel.
Air cooled head thermistor
Re: Air cooled head thermistor
I have one fitted on the old ecu that I'm removing. No idea of type though.

http://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/3 ... -041-A-M14 might work.
I saw a 2pin minitimer connector somewhere once but can't remember what it was.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-FORD-LINCOL ... ms&vxp=mtr maybe? You'd need to work ou the calibration for it, there isn't a specific resistance it needs but the internal pullup on temp inputs is 1K ohms from memory.

Re: Air cooled head thermistor
did you get sorted?
Re: Air cooled head thermistor
Hi.
For the time being I am doing my engine temp for startup etc using oil temp.
I know that the head heats up quicker than the oil but I'm doing ok with it so far.
If I could find a readily available thermistor with a 5 or 6 mm ring then I would be interested to try it.
No luck yet though..
Cheers.

Re: Air cooled head thermistor
I use a standard Bosch water temp sensor between the rockers, works great.
Re: Air cooled head thermistor
Hi guys.
So,, all year I have been running my air cooled injected katana using the oil temp instead of cyl head temp.
However its winter project time and I would really like to now change it to cylinder head temp.
I have found this on ebay.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/THERMISTOR-1 ... rk:25:pf:0
To me this looks a perfect solution as its small and can be bolted on to the head somewhere discreet and out the way and out of the airflow.
Would this work with a DTA S40 or is the resistance too high ?
If its no good, can anyone suggest something similar that is readily available in UK/EU please ?
Cheers.
