I'm looking to machine the teeth on a CV spacer to retro fit speed sensing in to an existing installation.
I see the ECU can be adjusted between 4 - 60 teeth.
Is there an optimum number? The CV spacer is 100mm in diameter, so should I be going for as many as possible, or does it not make that much difference to the accuracy?
thanks
Is there an optimum number of teeth on speed sensors wheels?

Re: Is there an optimum number of teeth on speed sensors whe
I asked Allan this once and he said 12, I run 5 on the front and 6 on the rear, I guess the more the better particularly if you are using traction control.
Allan did say that counting teeth takes up ecu processing power, but it can't be that difficult.
In your set up the sensor you are using will need a min tooth size so have a look at its specification.

Thanks for the reply.
Where would I look up the spec' that the sensor requires? The size of the tooth was asked by the machinist, ie how wide and how deep it would have to be.

Jim

Depends on sensor etc used, tooth pitch, and actual speeds involved.
As for the spec the sensor requires...ask whoever makes/supplies that sensor.
But with a big chunky tooth and equally sized or larger gap all around, you can't really go wrong.

Brilliant, thanks
