Can anyone confirm the correct settings for Dta s100 in the Sensor wheel tooth specs section for BMW s65 engine.
Current DTA settings are as follows:
Engine Config screen :
Flywheel mode - 0 - standard missing tooth E.G. (Ford/Opel/VW)
Six boxes on the right:
Number of teeth-60
Number of teeth missing-2
Gap tooth factor-2000
Degrees BTDC-60
Teeth BDTC-2
Flywheel mode - 0 - standard missing tooth E.G. (Ford/Opel/VW)
With these settings we are experiencing 8000rpm at only 15% throttle and hitting the rev limiter.
Regards,
Ralph

The map I have has a sensor angle of 90, not 60. Otherwise the same.
Have you set the throttle stops?
Are you using DBW, or a throttle cable?

Presumably you are saying the engine is not actually at 8000pm and on the limiter ? But the ecu thinks it is ?bmwe36m3 wrote:Can anyone confirm the correct settings for Dta s100 in the Sensor wheel tooth specs section for BMW s65 engine.

Alex,
Thanks for the response. I will try a sensor angle of 90. Yes I have set the throttle stops and we are using a mechanical cable.

Yes, the engine is not at 8000 rpm but the ecu thinks it is

Weird...have you a crank scope ? Datalog with all relevant info showing this ?
And the engine is actually idling, whilst displaying 8000rpm ?
Wow...weird for sure !

I think you need to explain a bit more what is happening. Its quite conceivable that at 15% throttle you can hit 8000 rpm with no load.
Are you getting crank errors or what?
Are you reading this rpm from the PC or from a rev counter?
Can you show us a crank oscilloscope trace?

Yeah, if it's actually 15% throttle it will make revlimit easily I'd say.
If you've zero'd throttle stops then it should show way less than 15% at idle.
