Cam and cranck sensor????

Post by Andreas Norway »

Hi im looking att the wiring chart for cam and cranck sensors on the S60 but getting confused wen i read the textbox on the bottom left corner.
Can i use both cam and crank magnetic and can i shield them together to sensor GND??
It says i can ony use one at any time so thats whats get me stuck.

You can use two magnetic sensors, that's fine.

The wiring diagram is making sure you don't connect a magnetic crank sensor AND a Hall effect crank sensor.

Hi Alex,
On a similar subject - I plan to use a magnetic crank sensor (Pins 12 & 21) and Hall effects cam sensor (Pins 23, 21SG and 5v from 9);
Is this combination ok?

Cheers
Steve

Hi Steve
Yes, that's fine.

The text is meant to warn against fitting a hall and magnetic crank (or cam) sensor to the same ECU.

Hi,
Just to be sure too, when i read the crank sensor connections on diagrams pages, it talking about Sensor ground and Sensor ground at ECU.
So Sensor Ground is on pin 33 and sensor ground at ECU is the wiring shield on the ECU casing ?

No.

You need to splice the S/Gnd wire to the shield at the ECU end then put the pin in 33 or 21

Ok
So 1 signal crank or cam to ecu and both ground, sensor and shield to pin 33 or 21 right ?
Thx

Just to be clear.

You must have a crank sensor. This goes to pin 12 if VR.
Sensor ground goes to pin 21. If there's a shield, that also goes to pin 21.

If you have a cam sensor, it goes to the the correct signal.
Ground goes to pin 21.
If there's a shield, it also goes to pin 21.
