Hi
I have questions about the Audi 5 cylinder 10 valve a car from 1983
is it possible to mount the s60 on this engine fitted with trigger wheels and single coil
Regards Brian
Audi 5 cylinder 10 valve single coil
Re: Audi 5 cylinder 10 valve single coil
I believe you'll need an S80 for 5 cylinders - S60 only has max 4 injector drivers

Hi Brian
You'll need an S80 as the S60 only has 4 injector outputs, so there is no way to run a 5 cylinder engine with it.

Hi
Sorry but I was not told I should only control ignition
I want to run the ignition with distributors but without hall signal from it and mount a trigger wheel to control a single coil
the reason is that it is for historical race and must look original

In that case an S40 ignition only would do it

With a single coil and say batch fire, surely 60 could cover it ?Alex DTA wrote:Hi Brian

Although it now seems he wants ignition only.

None of the ECUs except an S80 (or S100) will allow 5 cylinders to be entered in General Engine Settings.
You can enter 10 though, but I'm not sure what that would do to the coil driver temperatures, or if they could even charge quickly enough.

Oh bugger, that's a shame, having to use a massively over spec ecu where an S40 should be able to do it, only need one coil output.

Hi
I have now fitted a S80 and can now choose a 5 cylinder engine.. that's nice
But, now there's a pop up that says -- warning this engine must be equiped with one coil per plug--
is it not possible to drive with distributor and one coil
Or is it me that overlooks a setup option

Just tried it and you need 60 tooth crank wheel, tick coil per plug and tick distributor fitted. But no idea if this would actually work.
