IS it possible to convert a fuel sender that reads 10ohm full, 65ohm empty to give an output of 10ohm full and 135 ohm empty easily ?
Ive changed my fuel gauge and would prefer not to have to buy a new sender. It's a VDO dip tube style.
Oddly a couple of sellers say these normally come low resistance empty and circa 90ohms full.
So mine must have been custom originally ( made to suit my OEM fuel gauge )
Ive since fitted different clocks and need 10-135 ohms.

I don't know that there is an easy, reliable way to flip it.
We had to use a custom range on a setup and so we ended up using these guys - its awesome:

There's no way you can extend the resistance range of such a sender. The only thing you can do is use a "pull-up" resistor between the sender and 5V then use the output voltage to calibrate a programmable gauge.stevieturbo wrote:IS it possible to convert a fuel sender that reads 10ohm full, 65ohm empty to give an output of 10ohm full and 135 ohm empty easily ?

If you want to invert the voltage for full, just use a pull down resistor and the sender up to 5V so the table will work the opposite way.

Re: fuel sender conversion ?
It isnt flipping it.
Just extending the range. Gauge is a basic affair. OEM gauge is referenced to 12v in the cluster.
I just need empty to be around 135 ohms now as opposed to 65 ohms previous. I have bodged it temporarily with resistors to give me an approx empty reading, but obviously the gauge doesnt show anything above half full now.
I dont mind buying a new sender, it's just none of those seem to come with the right scaling either.
UK/Euro seems to be 0 ohms full 90 ohms empty
US seems to be about 230ohms full and 60 empty I think. There is some sort of standard somewhere.
But the gauge I am using is not adjustable.

Yeah I wish they'd list it - it wasn't too bad honestly. And its super accurate. No ghetto float on a stick, its got a like dipstick tube.
