There's a 12v supply to each coil and 1 wire from the ecu to each coil, I've used coil output 1 for the coil that does cylinders 1 and 4, then output 2 for cyl 2 and 3
Does that sound ok?
Thanks for your help.

Re: Honda blackbird first start
sounds fine so long as the crank trigger is in the right place, ideally this needs to be 90deg btdc of No1 cylinder
Re: Honda blackbird first start
I'm not sure how to find the angle of it.
I'm using the standard crank/cam sensors, the crank wheel has 12 teeth and no gaps.
Does this mean I need to work the angle from the cam sensor?

Easiest way to get an idea of where it is ( assuming you cannot use a timing light )
Remove all plugs except cylinder 1 then do an oscilloscope test
You'll be able to see from this where cyl1 is in relation to the identifying tooth and play with it until it's near correct.
Ultimately though you need some sort of timing reference so you can check with a timing light.
Cam sensor is critical with no missing teeth on the crank

If it's a standard engine, then the sensor is int he right place, and you don't need to change that. It could be something else.
Have you used the diagnostics to check if the coils and injectors are working correctly?

Re: Honda blackbird first start
I've done the tests on the coils and injectors and they all work fine.
On the diagnostics part it keeps showing cam sensor faults but on the same page it shows a cam sensor angle, so the cam sensor must be working.
Is it showing faults because I've not got numbers correct somewhere?
Do I need to have twin spark turned on for wasted spark on 2 coils?
I'm struggling with it!

Re: Honda blackbird first start
DOn't worry, you'll get there.
If you're getting cam sensor errors, then let's turn that off. As you're wasted spark anyway, it won't matter. Do the following.
All under Engine Configuration.
Coil Per Plug Settings - Make sure Unequal firing is no, and One Coil Per Plug is no.
Sequential Injection and Fan Control - Sequential Active is no.
Now the one I'm not sure about. I'm pretty sure you're on wasted spark, so that should be good enough. However, if you end up firing on only two cylinders, you'll also need to tick Twin Spark in General Engine Settings.

Re: Honda blackbird first start
yes sparrow is correct the setup you have is wasted spark, so twin spark may need to be selected. it seams strange but thats the only way i have managed to run wasted spark with DTA
Re: Honda blackbird first start
Thank you for the help
I'll try that later and see what happens

Twin spark needs to ticked in two circumstances:lumley32 wrote:yes sparrow is correct the setup you have is wasted spark, so twin spark may need to be selected. it seams strange but thats the only way i have managed to run wasted spark with DTA
1. You have a twin spark engine. The correct spark offset would need to be entered.
2. You have coil on plug, but can't run sequential. The spark offset would be zero in this case.
You shouldn't need to tick it with a wasted spark coil pack.
Based on the way SimonR has wired these, I'm guessing they are wasted spark.
