Problems with RPM limit
Hello.
Since some time I use a DTA S40 for my 2.3 liter 16V Volvo engine.
I'm still setting everything, but now I run into a problem.
The rev limiter intervenes at 5500rpm.
but he is at General engine settings set to 7500TPM.
(it is possible to do 8500TPM with these engineconfiguration)
My trigger wheel is a 60-2 wheel on the crankshaft.
The sensor is the original sensor on the flywheel side
Could it be that my sensor is not fast enough?
This is my trigger wheel:

Sincerely,
Jan-Willem Woermeijer

Re: Problems with RPM limit
In Diagnostics, are you getting any missed crank teeth, rejected teeth etc ?
Re: Problems with RPM limit
If you see crank errors in diagnostics, it's worth to check the sensor clearance and adjust it to DTA recommendations.

thanks,
I will try it tonight if I have the time.

And if the problem is very repeatable. You can do a scope trace at any time. So you could try and do a capture when the problem is occurring.J.W.Woermeijer wrote:thanks,

But the diagnostics page should give some good info about the crank signal history

Re: Problems with RPM limit
Hello everyone,
Tonight I just went to the car.
I made a screenshot of the diagnostic menu with cold engine and after 33Km.
What I see is one crank wheel teeth error.
Do you see more problems?
(I know the air temperature sensor)
The crankshaft oscilloscope sees no problems by diffrence rpm's
After 33km the rev limiter still flip in.
so it is a constant problem ..
Best regards,
Jan-Willem Woermeijer

Re: Problems with RPM limit
Reset all the values in diagnostics and try again.
There are a LOT rejected crank pulses there. In an ideal world that value would be zero.
And as I said, if the fault is repeatable, try a scope trace when the problem is occuring

Re: Problems with RPM limit
So did you adjust sensor clearance ? 0.8mm could be starting point for your trigger wheel. Even 0.2mm may do difference in either direction. Also angle of the sensor may affect.
There are plenty of crank errors like Stevie told. Signal is very bad.

What do you mean by scope trace?stevieturbo wrote:Reset all the values in diagnostics and try again.

is this the option "crankshaft ocilloscoop" in the DTA?
And i will check the sensor clearance and angle.
Maybe is the space between them to big..

Do that first before moving sensors etc. And also reset the values in diagnostic screen too.
