I have a vw 1.8 20 turbo engine in my Vauxhall nova and im running s40 pro ive read that the cranks sensor angle should be 84' being that the 14th tooth relates to tdc on the crank pickup and its 60-2 so each tooth is 6' but my engine will not run unless I put it at 242' when I generate a crank signal it gives me 54' or 242' on 54 it wont rn and 242' it fires straight into life and idels and runs fine should I be overly concerned I know the timing is right as I did the cambelt before I fitted the engine

Sounds like you might have the plug leads on wrong.
It doesn't really matter so long as its running fine, however I would strongly suggest you check timing with a timing light.

im using a ford coil pack I will check the plug leads as im sure the coil has numbers thanks for the reply

If its not the plug leads it may be the ecu outputs transposed, doesn't really matter, just check timing with a timing light.

plug leads were right so I checked the wiring to the coil and I believe I got the outputs the wrong way round, ill swap them round and check with a timing light on my lunch break thanks again
