Hi everyone!
Just new S40 user, I'm so glad to earn now a DTA product.
I want to put it on a clio williams and already made the wiring.
I want now to communicate with the software but I can not.
As picture below, I connected the 12V pin and the 2 grounds pins, to plug the electrical power to the DTA S40. I used the RS232 special cable between them. The picture shows that I managed to get the power because intensity is going (0.17A in normal use). I also checked the 5V output and I well have the 5V output.
BUT
When I plug it to the computer and run DTAwin.exe, which asks me to connect it, I click on connect but the software says me that my S40 is not powered up.
- no electrical visually burned component inside
- no RS232 - USB cable, it is directly the DTA cable (brand new) that 's used.
- COM1, 9600 bauds, as the user manuals suggests...
Any ideas??
thanks a lot!
Boris

Your BAUD rate is wrong, it should be 57600.
COM1 must be set to the same value as what's in the driver settings.
Here are links to two documents to help:

Re: DTA S40 communication issue between box and computer
Well;
first thanks a lot for your quick answer!
then
- I took a RS 232 / USB cable
- drivers OK (prolific drivers...)
- set the bauds to 57600
- I put them to COM2 (because COM1 is already used)
when I start the software:
but when I click on connect:
the only thing I did not is to restart my computer.....

Re: DTA S40 communication issue between box and computer
That's a driver issue.
Download and install the drivers from here:
http://www.dtafast.co.uk/download_files ... v1.6.0.zip
When you install those, they will be installed, but not used by the USB converter, as they are older than the current drivers installed.
Follow the instructions in the first document I linked to above to select the correct drivers.

Re: DTA S40 communication issue between box and computer
ok, thanks, I'll try it today.
Re: DTA S40 communication issue between box and computer
Ok, new try today...
RS232 DTA cable connected to a RS232 / USB converter (a true one)
ECU switched on (12V - 0.11A, running)
Switched to the 2012 drivers...
Set the port as "com2"
57600 bauds
FIFO in advanced settings on the second range (as the user manual says)
And, when I want to start the software...
the first window shows me as my precedent message above, that my ecu is present and connected
BUT then:
if I click on connect, nothings appart a red flag that says that my ecu is not switched on or present...

Try to re flash your firmware. I had this problem too with an s80 and it was the firmware not update correctly. This will solve your problem.

From memory I've had this issue too. I was thinking those screens looked familiar.antonisgtir wrote:Try to re flash your firmware. I had this problem too with an s80 and it was the firmware not update correctly. This will solve your problem.

Might have to hang on to hear back from Alex, he's at the Autosport show.
