Hey guys , I have some news. Turns out that my crappy CH340 usb to rs232 converter couldn't do the job(even if it communicated great with DTAswin.) I tried an FTDI one and job done. But now I have an other issue. DTAswin says that the firmware is wrong. I tried every single one I had but nothing. When i put S40I(ignition Only) or s60 firmware ,it is happy. So, I bench tested it with the S60v65 loaded ,and the main inputs/outputs seems to respond. What do you thing?

Hey Rob ,yes I'm using the latest DTAswin software. Firmware:I tried fromV44(Thank you Alex) to the latest V80.11- Nothing. I believe that something wend wrong with the sectors 5-6 on st10f's flash. Maybe some nice folk here can dump the whole flash.
Edit:I haven't tried the BETA version.Should I?

Beta version won't make a difference.
It sounds like the USB problem has corrupted part of the memory that's not normally written to.
You'll have to send it back for us to wipe it for you. We can save a copy of the map first.

The ecu never been on the car ,so no Map or wiring yet, just bench testing. The one thing that makes me skeptic about sending it to you, is this Here-UK-and-back travel for just a simple reason.
It seems easier to find someone who can devote a few minutes to dump the whole flash for me ,to try it just for kicks.

Hi have got 2 cars both with S40 ignition only ecu.

I decided to put them on the same firmware version. Unfortunately the flash failed and now the ecu won’t boot. It will get to the monitor startup to allow flashing.

The original firmware was 65.00, hardware version 2.00.

I can’t find old firmware. Can you supply the original so I can sort?

Once sorted is it possible to upgrade, or is it not worth it ?

Regards

Gary

Hi Gary

A failed flash won't brick the ECU. Simply keep trying again, and it will eventually connect.
Then simply flash the correct firmware, and you're done.

There are a lot of updates from v65, so it's definitely worth pursuing.

Hi Alex,

Have tried 10+ times with the latest firmware. I then found an older 79.02 and that gives the same error.

I can connect to the ecu and it will start the flash.

Do I need to upgrade across several steps or is it just keep trying?
At this stage will be happy to get v65.00 back an device and leave the two ecus at different revisions

Regards

Gary

Alex,

Forgot to ask, is there a location to download old firmware, the dta website goes back only 1 version?

Hi Gary

The point I'm trying to make very badly is that the old version will do the same.
As you have a hardware v2 ECU, they're identical to the ones we sell now. Flashing a different firmware won't solve whatever the problem is.

What file are you trying to flash?

If you can take a screenshot of the error, that might help as well.

There's a guide to flashing here:
http://www.dtafast.co.uk/download_files ... s/Flashing New Firmware to DTA S.pdf

I don't have any firmware older than about 78 for the S40.
