1. Start flash program
2. connect pin 8/13
3. turn on ecu and disconnect pins
4. ecu should connect

You will know if the ecu is in flash mode, as the fuel pump will not prime.

So if you hear it prime, something has went wrong.

The fuel pomp doesn't prime so that must be good.

It must be something else then.... I use:

Windows 7
Flash Program form DTA site
USB tot COM convertor

The biggest problem is usually any USB convertors.

I assume you can reliably connect the ecu to the laptop using the same adaptor ?

Do you have access to a computer with a serial port ?

It doesn’t always work with a(all) USB<->RS232 convertor, timing is critical, Win7 only makes it worse if you don’t have good(latest) drivers for the convertor. Sometimes after a few tries it connects.

One thing you guys don’t seem to know, once the monitor is loaded, you can change the speed to 57600 baud(S- series), it then only takes a second or 20 to flash.

Thanks for all the reply's.

@ Stevieturbo.

I reliably connect with the same adapter to the ECU witch DTASWIN. I Don't have a computer with a serial convertor.

I will take a few more tries tomorrow :D

Tried another laptop:

*Set com parameters:COM4, 9600 bauds-->OK

*STATUS -->All is ok

*LOAD MONITOR-->OK

*LOAD HEXFILE:C:\Users\Sonny\Desktop\S60.hex-->OK

*FILE INFO FOR FILE:S60.hex
Size = 120520 bytes.
Programming time = 126 s.
Block(s): 0, 1, 2, 3, 4

*PROGRAM FLASH MEMORY -->OK

It probably isnt the laptop itself that's at fault. It will be adaptor related.

But at least you got it sorted anyway.

Be patient when flashing. When mine does it...screen goes half blank and doesnt say a thing until it's finished ! Never be tempted to hit buttons or disconnect mid-flash though.

Really annoying issue.

Selling one DTA so I wanted to flash it to latest firmware for buyer. That worked fine. Then I use the same exact cable and laptop and connect to my own DTA to flash and get:

*LOAD MONITOR-->ERROR
Description: InitMonitor failed.
Monitor: BSL: Fail before sending all the 0x20 first bytes.
Com: Receive: Timeout or Lost of data

Grr.

What the heck.

EDIT: Nevermind - I have a habit for holding switches. My ECU responded after holding the flash button down, turning the ECU on, and letting the flash button go just after. All is well!

Upgraded my firmware to 66.03 today, was no problem after i found where the file was in my laptop.
Load time was maybe 25-30 seconds, Swin worked properly and communicated with ECU and engine running.

Now i just have to get that bloody engine running clean...
