USB/RS232 Converter, small/chip

Post by ignitionautosport »

Looking to put a RS232/USB converter inside a Dyno-Box, and haven't really found anything ideal (ie, small)

Any suggestions? Would prefer a USB-B Connector on the Dyno-Box, which I can source if a chip is available stand-alone.

I think that there are so many available that don't work very well for what we need you would be better of finding one that works and mounting that in a bigger box?

How small you talking ? Not just make a slightly bigger dyno box ?

While I cant confirm the exact one by model, this one looks exactly like the one I normally use for my DTA. I bought it a few years ago.

Ive also used this one and it works fine, and given that it plugs into each cable, may be of use ? Quite a few people recommend this one for different ecus
It isnt overly big

Yeah I can make it bigger for sure., thats not really the issue, was more that I wanted the chipset pre-made that I could attach a USB-B panel mount to the outside of the box... suppose may not be worth the effort really.

The Keyspan one could easily be opened up and stuck inside a different enclosure. It's barely over an inch wide and maybe 2.5" long. So could easily be re-worked.

Well easily if you do fine and neat soldering etc I'd make a total balls of it lol

I cant really see the point of putting it in the knobs box really, whats wrong with it at the PC end like normal?

try the St-Lab U-224 usb to serial adaptor.
Has a small circuit board and works very well.
