Hi all
Finally entered the modern world and bought an s60, so i need to build a new loom.
I will use mainly screened 20awg twisted nexans cables, but what size of DR-25 do people use to cover single runs of these cable sizes?
DR25 size for 2 and 3 core screened 20-22awg?

Using the flexible/expandable braided sheath is better than heat shrink.
Pricey buying small quantities I'd think though.

Re: DR25 size for 2 and 3 core screened 20-22awg?
molecular bob I usually use 1/8 or often 3/16 for 3x20awg single wires of tefzel, I am unsure what nexans cables is like. You might need to go up a size for the screened/sleeved stuff, depends how thick it is.
3x22awg (single wires) you can fit in shorter lengths of 1/8. 2x 20awg (or 22) ideally use 1/8.
And stevie, I am curious as to why you'd say braid is better than DR25.
Braid rubs and pulls apart on anything it touches, DR25 can rub on stuff and wear through (which takes longer than braid being rubbed) and it still won't peel open like 'normal' heatshrink.
Also, braid means fluids and dust and crap get in your harness making them gross to work with and offer minimal protection. It also melts easily unless you get the heat resistant stuff but it's expensive, in which case I'd rather use DR25 and have my harness fluid proof as well.
I do sometimes use braid in interior harnesses where that is less of a concern, but engine harnesses are DR25.
Anyway, this is probably irrelevant, as anyone asking for DR25 likely already knows what they want and why.

Any "proper" looms Ive seen have always used braided sleeving. The looms are neat, nothing comes apart, they remain very flexible and they look good.

Re: DR25 size for 2 and 3 core screened 20-22awg?
Hi all
Just assumed DR-25 was the way to go, mainly because the 2 DTA supplied looms i have had were done this way.
Nexans cable is just a Raychem equivalent made to the same spec, just seems to be cheaper to get hold of as it doesn't have the motorsport supplier tax.
I can get 5m of DR-25 in 1/8th for around £14.00, is this a fair price?
