LS1 ignition coils

Post by Shedman »

Hi Guys - First post - be kind! I'm just starting to build a loom for my LS1 (in a Lotus Excel. Been on the factory ECU for some years): I know the LS1 coils have built-in amplifiers - I just want to double-check the actual wiring. There are four connections:

+12v
Ground
Signal
Reference low

Should I connect the "ground" to chassis earth and "reference low" to the sensor ground on the S80?

Thanks very much

This will not be my last query :?!!

Just ground both of them locally. But the "ground" must be grounded locally to a good solid earth point, ie head, block etc as that's the power ground that carries the current.

The other is just a feedback wire for the OEM ecu to help identify misfires but everyone says it must be grounded ( havent actually tried it ungrounded though )
