Hi all!
In the wiring diagram for my S100, there is a note, related to the crank and cam inputs, that they can be driven with a 12V square wave input. Does anyone know if this is also the case for the wheel speed inputs?
All my hall sensors operate from a 12V supply and i would like to keep my wiring as simple as possible, rather than inserting level shifters.
cheers Cornel

Yes, you can power the wheel speed sensors from 12v.

Re: Hall Effect Inputs Voltage Level?
A lot of hall sensors output 0-5v anyway, even if they are fed with 12.

Re: Hall Effect Inputs Voltage Level?
I thought the 5v came from the ecu and the hall sensor just pulled that to ground.

Depends on the hall sensor; a GT101 sits slightly higher and depending on software the trigger level can be set to work without a pullup. YMMV.Rob Stevens wrote:I thought the 5v came from the ecu and the hall sensor just pulled that to ground.

The couple of sensors I tried for cam triggers ( one a generic threaded piece ) and the other an OEM, I just fed them with vehicle 12v but they still output a switched 0/5v signal.Rob Stevens wrote:I thought the 5v came from the ecu and the hall sensor just pulled that to ground.
Havent tried a 101 though, but pretty sure you're right they do just pull to ground as an NPN sensor
