Beta Software

Post by Alex DTA »

DTASwin v85 is here! This is a complete ground up rewrite, meaning nothing has been copied from the old software.
WARNING - THIS IS BETA SOFTWARE, THERE WILL BE BUGS!!
Windows 7, 8 and 10 are all supported. Windows XP is not supported, as it is not possible to install .Net 4.5.2 on XP.

Please use it, abuse it, and let me know what happens.

Use the link at the bottom of the page for the latest version. This is currently v85.09.

Added in 85.22 - Released 25/04/18
  1. Log Viewer - updated. Install now installs it as a standalone, so you can launch it load previous logs and maps.
Everything else should work.

Known Issues
W7 will not display labels properly if text is magnified.

Tips and Tricks

Install
  • If the PC does not have .Net 4.5.2 or later, the install will download and install it for you.
  • The install will also copy all the map files from the old DTASwin folder (C:\DTASwin\maps) to the new location of Documents\DTASWin\Maps
Please let me know if neither of these happen.

Graphs
  • To select multiple points on a graph, hold down the Ctrl key, and move the mouse over the required points. Then simply drag up and down as required.
20x14 Maps
  • It is now possible to highlight a range of cells, and interpolate across those cells only, using Shift + F5.
  • You can copy from one map to another by highlighting some cells, and using Ctrl C and Ctrl V as normal.
Previously Ctrl C was used in Real Time Mapping to switch between knobs Coarse and Fine. This is currently going to be Ctrl D, although there will be an option to switch back to F2 for copy, F3 for paste, and Ctrl C for coarse/fine
Menu
  • The buttons labelled C1 to C10 are customisable buttons, so you can set them to open forms you use regularly.
Right click on them, and choose the form you use regularly. This will be stored permanently.
Data Log Viewer
There is a new data log viewer now available. This can be launched independently of the software, otherwise it will launch automatically when the log has finished downloading.
  • Scroll with the mouse wheel to zoom in and out
  • Right click and drag to move the graph left and righ
  • Double click to add a marker on the log, and double click again to remove it
  • Up to 4 charts can be added from the chart menu
  • Close a chart by clicking the X in the top right corner
  • Charts can be resized by dragging the bottom of the chart frame

Hello Alex
I've a bug, not that much of a deal but anyway:
If you don't use the program on full screen, i've mentioned this with uding one side of my screen with the old and the other side the new software, you can't see all the menus.
In the old software, the ones that don't fit in the width of the screen are placed underneath. ;)

Firstly..and offline obviously.

Seems to install ok.

Open software and some of the screen text is missing for the intial startup and work offline etc. ie
dta1.jpg
Then tried to open a file. It has went to the Users/Mydocs folder and there are some old maps in there ok. It's not the normal C:/DTASwin folder I would use though, so not sure if it's an old one I created or the software did something.

No matter...

however, working through the menu to my normal C:DTASWin folder to open some maps saved there in subfolders I got an unhandled exception error.
Not that I have the first notion what that is lol but it prevents me opening maps from that folder and software wants to shut down

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

And with the windows not being manually re-sizeable...some text goes missing or cropped slightly as Shedly I think is also saying. This is apparent in quite a few of the windows.

Only the General settings and General Settings 2 aren't resizeable of the ones I've tried so far.

Also had this error when I opened an old map of mine (haven't tried a "new" map):
changed Fan Control on/off in Sequential/Fan windows, went to exit, tried update and stay open, and update and close, both threw errors as per
Hitting F4 did the same also. It didn't error if I Abandoned changes.

My laptop screen is 3200x1800 and it scales nicely with the Windows scaling, nice work.

When do we get a Linux version? HAH just kidding, would be nice but I get it hehe.
