Long cranking was solved a great deal for me when I tuned the start-up fuel time in the general engine settings section.
I was at just 2-6 ms, but am now at 24ms with 1000ID injectors so just saying: maybe that parameter needs increased in your case as well?
2.2 ltr aircooled VW (turbo)
Hope it helpes!

Ernie,
I still have some on going issues with starting, I had the map redone but still doesn't like the cold. Eventually the tuner found I am getting lots of crank trigger errors. Phoned speed shop and had a long chat. The trigger sensor they used to use was very fussy and prone to error. They have now changed the sensor and mount and apparently it's much better so that's my winter job. Had an idle valve physically plumbed in but not wired up as 2 tuners I spoke to said they never use them yet my mechanic who is a vw drag racer, recommended it so a bit confused on that one
