Hi I'm new to the forum and am in the process of making a loom for the s80 pro ecu . I'm using the vw style wasted spark coil packs ( the ones with the built in ignition amplifiers ).
My question is which is the best way to wire them up.
Firing order is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8
1. To use the first 4 coil outputs and then set the ignition coils in the settings on the ecu to be 2 stroke. Using pins as follows
Pin 10 to coil trigger firing cylinders 1 & 6
Pin 18 to coil trigger firing cylinders 3 & 5
Pin 1 to coil trigger firing cylinders 7 & 4
Pin 26 to coil trigger firing cylinders 8 & 2
2. To use all 8 coil outputs and terminate them in pairs at the trigger on the coil and leave setting in ecu in normal 4 stroke.
Pin 10 to coil trigger firing cylinders 1 & 6
Pin 18 to coil trigger firing cylinders 3 & 5
Pin 1 to coil trigger firing cylinders 7 & 4
Pin 26 to coil trigger firing cylinders 8 & 2
Pin 11 to coil trigger firing cylinders 1 & 6
Pin 27 to coil trigger firing cylinders 3 & 5
Pin 12 to coil trigger firing cylinders 7 & 4
Pin 19 to coil trigger firing cylinders 8 & 2
Thanks in advance. Paul

Re: wasted spark on v8 engine
If you are using wasted spark coil packs, Option 1 is correct, but you don't need two stroke mode.
If you are using COP, neither are correct.
If you are using COP, neither are correct.

Re: wasted spark on v8 engine
Exactly what sort of coil are you using ? A 4 tower of some description ?
Re: wasted spark on v8 engine
Thanks for the reply. The coils are the 4 tower type as fitted to vw's. They have a built in amplifier. Can't understand how it can work as it needs 8 firing events in 720deg of crankshaft rotation not 4 that's why I thought 2 stroke mode would give me the correct number of events?

Just realised how it works . Thanks for the replies.
