Looking good dude. Yeah cars seem to give you trouble just before you need them to behave.

This actually started yesterday!

Who knows, it may even be on track next month.

Hey Alex,

Can you reveal any details of the spec? I'm interested! :geek:
Such as what turbo? Do you have to use a restrictor?
What pistons are you using?

Spec's no secret.

The turbo is an AET 3076 with billet compressor wheel. No restrictor.
Pistons are JE I think. It's been a while.
TFSI stroker crank so it's a genuine 2L

Anything else?

Do you know what the compression ratio is with your pistons?
From the photo of your manifold you're using an external WG, what size did you choose?

I've chosen 1000cc injectors as well so is be interested to know what is the max duty you see (@ bhp?) and what the base pressure is too.

I'm not using a lift pump which is typically how most people go, in conjunction with 1 or 2 Bosch 044 pumps. I've gone for a 455lph in tank pump to minimise the plumbing, let's see how well (or badly) it performs!

9:1 I think, but I'll need to check that.
44mm waste gate.
Base pressure is 3.5 bar, but I don't know the final figures yet. Also on 1000cc injectors, as the "630cc" injectors shipped to me maxed out at 350bhp, making them no biigger than 440cc.

It's alive, and out for it's first run on Monday at Curborough. Still on running in map and oil.
After Monday, we'll chuck some proper oil in and finalise the map.

It's 9.5:1.
The 630cc injectors were probably fine, there was a fuel system issue. Fuel pressure was dropping so much at higher RPM we maxed out the 1000cc injectors. Needless to say the only sensor I hadn't fitted was the fuel pressure sensor...

Gave up and ripped the whole lot out, and fitted new in tank pump, proper swirl pot, and new lines to the original hard lines. Sorted.

Paddle shift isn't fitted, as I just want to drive the damn thing.

Massive thanks to Bill at Badger5 for all the hard work and patience.

First day out was great fun. The car survived, apart from a random knock on the left front every now and then. I think it's drive shaft bolts, but I've not checked yet.

It turns out there's a problem with the front brakes:

The first time I stamped on the brakes, the pedal went to the floor, and locked the rears.
Nothing serious, just made sure to keep it on the tarmac, and tried again. Obviously I had to leave some margin for braking, as there was a lack of front brakes.

Apart from that, the car went well. My only aim was to drive it back on the trailer at the end of the day, which I did.
The tyres have turned to concrete, so I struggled to put the power down. I have a couple of sets of slicks that I'll use next time out. Lateral grip was quite good, and the feedback from the car was good. I was able to get the back to move quite easily, and then control it as well. This was fun:

I held it all the way around the top corner.

Next up, finish the brakes, then test them, and get on another test day.

Brakes are working, although only tested across the workshop. :)
I now need to book on to something for a proper test.
