It offers much better low end torque on stock lift&duration cams but his S80 cannot run the twin VANOS of the S54.
RaceCommo,
Are you planning on some VANOS-delete race cams? Because the VANOS delete plate cost would most likely pay for the S100 upgrade needed to run the S54 with full VANOS...

Yes it offers better low end torque, but it helps below 4000rpm and when running on track we use low rpms only in pit, so no need to use Vanos. Also I have heard broken vanos units, that's why I will delete the vanos. Also much easier to tune the engine.

I have vanos delete kit already waiting for assembly. Mayby in future we will change some race cams if we need more power.

Torque and emissions below 5500rpm are obsolete for this kind of race car. So Vanos elimination is the way to happiness :)

Brilliant project!

What gearbox is that you are using? Looks as though there is an adapter plate to the bell housing.

They came with the SMG in some of them, didn't they?

Can not wait to see the next video!

Thanks!

I'm using BMW E30 M3 getrag. Modified to dog box. Bellhousing is from E30 automatic and adapter plate is self made so the getrag will bolt in.

Brake Fluid is Ferodo Racing Super Formula.

Yes, it's a Opel Corsa C power steering unit.

Season started, two videos from first race weekend.

Qualification we had huge problems with rear end grip, luckily we got that sorted out for race start. Unluckily both front tension struts broke in first start when we were at fourth place. We managed to get laptime that puts us on fifth place for the second race. And we knew one car would be missing in front of us because engine failure. We welded broken parts and did some wheel alignment(not the best setup) and we managed get to starting grid.

So we started second race 3 cars front of us and after first corner there was only 1 car ahead. Few laps further we managed to get in the first place and in the end we were first.

Sorry, no video from second race because battery was empty.
