S60 issues

Hi
Hope someone can help , got a clio 172 and fitted the S60 ECU and X dash , had the car dynoed and all running fine , fitted the new engine dash and ecu in the car and had a new loom made for it , all seemed fine , had someone to tweek the cold start as it was a pain to start it , it needs to go back to the tuners for a final session on the rollers and road , but it was starting and running , but now it won't start.

It is not sparking when turning over , have run the test through the ECU and the plugs spark then , so pugs leads and coil all check out ok.

Have checked the continuity of the wiring and all checks out fine , swapped the crank sensor for a brand new one , still nothing , have checked out the crank sensor with an oscilloscope and that is working as it should be , and the wiring is fine from the crank sensor to the pins on the ECU plugs.

The ECU is not seeing the engine turning when its cranking over , can it really be a faulty ECU ??

Would appreciate any help you can offer

Many thanks Ian

there is a crank oscilloscope function on the dta, try that out and see if you get anything?

As above, use the ecu scope to see if it's picking up the crank signal ok.

And are all other sensors reading ok ?

is it a std crank position, like back of the flywheel or an aftermarket bolted to the front pulley?

Hi
Thanks for the replies , yes have tested it on the DTA oscilloscope and its not reading it , just to add battery is good so not low on voltage when cranking either

All other sensors are reading on the lap top

I am using the standard crank sensor reading off the flywheel , and works as it has been dynoed like that , and has been running in the car up to now fine

Cheers Ian

So to re-cap, you are seeing the waveform from your crank trigger at the ecu connector with an independent oscilloscope but not with the dta. If this is the case I suggest you try another ecu or send back to dta for testing.

That's a weird one for sure.

Wasnt there someone a while back, that described a similar situation, and for some unknown reason he needed to swap the crank sensor polarity ?

He claimed it was the exact same loom he had used previously. It doesnt add up, but seemed to work for him.

yeah good shout, try flipping the crank sensor connector round. quite difficalt to get the ecu pins out of the connector!

The DTA S-series connector ? They're a doddle to take out. Just click the release tab and they simply pull out or push in.

The only time they may get difficult is with poor crimps or soldered pins. Even mine are badly soldered and are pretty easy to get out though. Proper crimped ones are very easy.
