Flashing DTA S-Series
Re: Flashing DTA S-Series
"It just seems to explain how to use DTA SWin to view the current firmware, and to verify you have comms ok with the laptop
And likewise after any flashing to confirm that it has all worked ok."
Now I see! The part that describes what softwares needed are in wrong order.
Below you see the dot-headers and the following "blue download-button text":
• ST10 Flasher Software
DTASWin For S Series ECUs
DTASWin v80.07
• DTA Swin Software
S Series ECU Flash Program
S Series ECU Firmware Upgrade Software
It should be like this:
• DTA Swin Software
DTASWin For S Series ECUs
DTASWin v80.07
• ST10 Flasher Software
S Series ECU Flash Program
S Series ECU Firmware Upgrade Software
"You're very lucky to have managed to do it since the ST10 Flasher software is very "flakey" and sometimes takes 100's of attempts to work! The problem seems to be getting the monitor to load, it usually says "monitor failed to load"."
I did this operation seven yers ago as well and got lucky that time also. And still I was confused after reading the instruction yesterday. The brain is not perfect, so to say.

I agree, it isnt totally clear.
But I think the success is largely down to a direct serial port.

Way over that, two different cables, 2 different laptops, at least 50 tries. WTF uses a damn serial port any more-- seriously! Try to find a computer with one nowadays! Going to see if I can resurrect and old Dell. And when I have the flasher open and ask it to search for the hex file I can see on my desktop, it cannot seem to find it. Again WTF!!!!

If DTASwin connects via the USB...then you should be ok.
So verify that first. Shut it down, then run the flasher.
And are you sure you're following instructions ? Is the ecu even in flash mode ?

Re: Flashing DTA S-Series
My cable has the button and verified it works with ohm meter, verified fuel pump wired to ecu as diagram says, no matter what I do holding button fuel pump always comes on. Is there a pin out for that cable so I can be sure it is wired to correct pins?

Re: Flashing DTA S-Series
At this point I am unsure what the correct order to do all of this in.
