Ive just fitted a vss on the front left drive shaft which counts 6 bolts on the cv joint, the ECU now displays the speed. Great.

I had assumed that it could now calculate the gear i was in by comparing the vss with rpm, seems like I was wrong?

It says the gear position by rpm need a prop shaft sensor and the ratios don't go low enough to factor in my final drive.

I'm being stupid. Just multiplied each gear ratio by the final drive.

yup, the number entered needs to accommodate both gear and final drive then yes it will calculate gear and display it.
