Just brazed the little one up actually after checking everything fits - they're about perfect as far as I can measure for running true so did okay!
The heat use meant they discoloured and started rusting almost immediately though - can't be having stuff that's not shiny so a few cocktails later....

Some reinforcing to the cage to help stiffen things up and make it safer in a roll, just in case, gussets going underneath it in the cross to spread the load.
Downside - no mince pies this christmas!

how do you choose where the extra supports are going to go?
Re: Safari buggy + Rotary engine, now converting to S2000 en
As long as you make triangles it adds strength. That single tube has reinforced the screen frame from a screen / door opening liable to squash if inverted - simple safe mod!DTA Gareth wrote:how do you choose where the extra supports are going to go?

As above, it's to create a triangle with the a-pillar bar, so that it can't fold over in a roll - it'll end up a little bit further forwards at the bottom but we can't get it quite on the node because the door fittings are there.DTA Gareth wrote:how do you choose where the extra supports are going to go?
Should stiffen the cab area a bit too as we've cracked a windscreen on big hits before as the chassis flexes, and it means, along with the gussets, the car will be legal to run in the Rallyes TT series in France.

Turns out whilst bleeding the new lines that the CNC brand fiddle brakes need rebuilding yet again - they're crap, and they have shedloads of slop, and the rebuild kit is the same price as two new Wilwood handbrake cylinders....wait, what?
Hmmm, what could I do with 2 brand new Wilwood handbrake calipers?
DIY fiddle brakes!
Now, best buy some more discs for the angle grinder, got a few ally sheets to get through, and some stainless for the handles...they're a lot easier to make on a screen than they are when red hot chips and grinding dust is flying...

My uncle had a push/pull single lever setup for Left/Right - mind you, his was a single-seater so less room possibly. Was just curious if it's a preference thing to have one or 2 levers.

Preference really, feels more natural having seperate levers that pull back to brake, and it means you can use both levers to alter bias on the fly if you get in a tricky spot of terrain, etc.
