Got it up and running at last, apologies for the sound, had a bit of a vacuum leak through a gasket and the phone camera seems to pick that whistle up and nothing else:

Although it's now back in pieces again :D

Engine has been back together a while but now we're going to miss the first event anyway we're thinking about painting the car first...

Roof scoop(s) reworked and bonnet prepped:

And some idle thoughts on that paint.

Love this.

Good news is we've managed to pull a bit more weight out whilst remaking some parts so we should be back to about the same weight as the rotary - about 920kg wet with fuel, so we should end up around the 400bhp/tonne mark until we get bored and give the supercharger more beans...

For comparison, her arse had a lot less middle age spread with the original VW motor in there!

However, it would also take 10 minutes to start in a morning from cold, cough and splutter around the first lap, half choke itself on a steep downhill slope and occasionally would pick up and give you a whole roaring 100 horsepower....;)

Back running, finishing touches going on the engine bay side - insulation sleeving on the intake hoses, etc, just waiting on some CVs now (as we use uprated items with chromoly stars and race cages), so make some new adaptors from the gearbox to the CV's as the old ones were pretty tired and the gearbox seals weren't sealing on them properly.

Bit chewy, I reckon. The dog might enjoy them though. :)
